90/180 calculator — how many days you have left
The 90/180 rule applies to short stays in the Schengen area: visa-free travel on a biometric passport and stays on a type C visa. Enter your earlier stays and the calculator will show how many of the 90 days you have already used within the moving 180-day period.

How the 90/180 rule is calculated
Within any period of 180 days a foreigner may stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days. The 180-day period is moving: it is counted backwards from every day of stay, including the day of a planned entry. That is why the limit does not reset at the start of the year or after each exit — it renews day by day, as the oldest days of stay fall outside the window.
The day of entry and the day of exit count as full days of stay, even if the actual stay lasted a few hours. The limit covers all short stays in the Schengen states: visa-free stay on a biometric passport and stay on a uniform type C visa.
The calculator adds up the days from the ranges you entered that fall within the window from the reference day minus 179 days up to the reference day — 180 days in total. Each day is counted once, even when the ranges overlap.
What this means for you
- A stay longer than 90 days within the moving 180-day period is an illegal stay. It may result in a return decision and a ban on re-entry.
- The 90/180 limit does not cover the period in which you stay in Poland on the basis of a temporary residence permit, a permanent residence permit or a national type D visa — these are separate grounds of stay.
- If you are approaching the limit and want to stay longer, check whether a separate ground of stay is available to you and file the application no later than on the last day of your legal stay.
- The calculator is an auxiliary tool. It does not replace border control or the findings of the authority handling your case — the legality of a stay in a specific case is decided by the competent authority.
